Gran Turismo Playstation

When Gran Turismo was released on Playstation in the late 90's by Polyphony Digital, it was heralded, almost unanimously as the greatest racing game ever. Its super-realistic physics coupled with precise handling and graphics that pushed the boundaries of what the Playstation could do, made it a 'benchmark title by which all future racers would be judged'. It still holds this supreme title and no other racing game has yet matched its splendour or perfection. This screenshot is actually taken from GT2, which was released on Playstation in 1999, but represents the graphical achievements that its predecessor made.

Metal Gear Solid Playstation&PC

Possibly the best game on Playstation, Metal Gear Solid set a new standard of Quality in terms of not only graphics and sound but more importantly in gameplay and narrative. It had the script and production values of a top class Hollywood blockbuster and it's amazingly simple control interface meant anyone could pick it up and play.
