DOOM:
Id
software's massively popular first person shooter has appeared on just
about all formats that could support it since its PC release in 1993. Although
preceded by Wolfenstein 3D, Doom is regarded by many as the father of
first person shooters and is responsible for a host of, now classic shooters
like Half life and the online frag extravaganza, Quake 3 Arena.

FRONTIER:
David
Barben's excellent follow-up to the groundbreaking hit Elite, has had a
huge following since its release in 1993. If rumours are correct, a fourth
incarnation is to be expected and may even appear on Playstation 2. The
premise of the game is simple. You start with 100 credits and a basic ship
and it is up to you what you want to do with it. Be a Pirate, Smuggler,
Trader, Messenger, or anything else that takes your fancy in this gigantic
gaming universe.

METAL
GEAR:
Hideo Kojima's
first stealth game set new standards in the action/adventure genre. The
game boasted an intelligent story and great graphics but what set it apart
from other games at the time was the ability to sneak past guards as opposed
to just shooting everything in sight. This added a whole new dimention
to the game. Solid Snake is currently embarking his fourth outing, in what
is possibly the most eagerly anticipated game in video game history.Metal
Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty is expected on Playstation2 late 2001.

developed by heston.net and may be distributed freely.

WIZBALL:
Wizball's
various styles of gameplay, married with the massively fun multiplier modes
made it one of the Commadore's most enjoyable offerings. As far as 8bit
platform games go it is still unmatched in terms of gameplay depth and
due to its friendly graphics and its easy to pick up control system it
still remains hugely playable today.

CREATURES:
One
of the silliest games on the 64 and a personal favourite. It may not be
a true classic and it has been greatly surpassed but at the time this was
an excellent game and will bring back old memories to those lucky enough
to own it at the time.

SPACE
INVADERS: The classic shoot-em
up that helped sell Atari's 2600 (VCS) console is still great to play.
It was the balanced gaming that made it such a special game when it was
released in 1978(ish?!) and it has not lost any of its charm since then.
This version of the game is an unfair reresentation as some of the key
gameing elements have been lost. Click
